Top 5 Podcasts for Quilters & Creatives

Top 5 podcasts for quilters & creatives | Shannon Fraser Designs

I’m a little late to the podcast game.  But now that I’ve started, I’m completely hooked!

I’ve got a few secret sewing projects in the works and I have been loving catching up on episodes while spending the day quilting.

Here are a few of my faves:

After the Jump – hosted by Grace Bonney from Design Sponge is full of inspiration and has introduced me to so many different creatives with varied backgrounds. One particular episode was all about creating mood boards to suss out what is important to us. Really cool experiment!

American Patchwork & Quilting Podcast – hosted by Pat Sloan – this one is lengthy, but I’ve really enjoyed getting to know quilters and quilt designers better. It’s fun to learn how they got started in the industry and what they are most passionate about. I particularly loved the episode of Annabel Wrigley talking about driving around in her pink caravan that is equipped with sewing machines for the lessons she offers. So cool!

Elise Gets Crafty – Elise Joy is the host and she interviews creatives and explores different challenges facing creatives in business.  I always leave inspired and think of ways I can improve my own creative business. Most recently, I listened to the 100-day challenge episode and it was really interesting to hear what each of the ladies learned from that experience. My mind has been in overdrive thinking of what I would like to explore more and challenge my creative side.

Modern Sewciety – hosted by Stephanie – I recently discovered this podcast after I noticed Suzy Quilts was being interviewed and I just had to check it out! It was such a fun and personal interview that made me feel I was right there chatting with them (or at least in the same room listing to their chat!).

While She Naps – by Abby Glassenberg.  The first episode I listened to, Abby was interviewing Lindsay from Hawthorne Threads.  Being a fabric lover, I was enthralled!!  I love that there is a good mix between interviewing creatives from all areas, as well as delving into the business side of things.

I particularly love listening to podcasts when I’m basting a quilt ;)  Or while sitting waiting for my physio appointments!!

P.S. I originally had Quilt Your Heart Out hosted by Marianne Fons and Mary Fons on the list. I was super excited to learn about the launch earlier this year as they have extensive quilting experience between the two of them. Unfortunately, shortly after the launch the podcast got cancelled. Not sure what happened, but boy was I disappointed.
