Holiday Baking Tradition

The holidays are such a special time of year.  The streets and homes are filled with festive decorations, twinkling lights and catchy Christmas carols – what prettiness!!  But what I really look forward to is the family traditions we've created over the years.  And one such tradition is baking shortbread cookies with my mum!

Ever since I was a little girl, shortbread cookies have been an annual holiday baking must.  It was, after all, the cookies we put out on Christmas Eve for Santa to snack on after delivering our presents ;)  Now I understand that it was my mum who got to enjoy those yummy treats!!

Since the holidays are really a time to spend with loved ones, I took time out of my crazy sewing schedule to host my mum for lunch and a little holiday baking last week.  I made us a big pot of carrot ginger soup with some avocado toasts before getting down to some mixing, patting and cookie shaping!

We were so caught up in our task that I didn't get around to taking too many pictures, but I guess that’s a sign of a really enjoyable holiday baking day!!
