Double Windmill Quilt + Pillow featured in Love Patchwork & Quilting Magazine Issue 67

Do you ever have an idea or an inkling to do something, but you kinda hold off until you feel a little more ready?
That’s how it was for me with submitting ideas to magazines. I had it on my list to try for quite awhile but kept putting it off thinking “I probably need more experience.” or “will my idea be liked?”.
But here’s the thing, those questions will continue to be asked until you actually DO something.
So, I took the plunge and submitted my design to Love Patchwork & Quilting Magazine back in February. And I got a response! Like, right away that it was being sent to the editor for consideration. And then I got the best news – she was IN! And could I design a pillow to go with her too! Um, yes, yes, I can!!
And so began my foray into publishing!
Pictured above is the Double Windmill quilt pattern, available in the shop.
It was fun. And scary. And frustrating. And stressful. And joyful. All at the same time! I’ve come to realize that it’s from pushing yourself out of your comfort zone, tackling the unknown and going for what you want that you grow, learn and achieve!
And the hard work paid off, because she not only made it into the magazine, but she made the COVER. This pretty is a Cover Girl and I couldn’t be more excited to share her with you.

DOUBLE WINDMILL QUILT
The Double Windmill quilt pattern is really versatile. I initially designed her with solids, but I also did quite a few mock-ups of different prints and each gives new life to the pattern. In short, you can’t go wrong with your fabric selection.
Here I went with Karen Lewis Textiles’ latest Blueberry Park 3 fabric collection for Robert Kaufman and I just love how the prints add additional dimension to the overall look.
I had lots of fun playing with the colours and couldn’t resist incorporating a little coral in there 😉
For added texture, I opted to back her in *this dreamy linen. I can see a lot of my quilts being backed in it! The fabric feels AH-mazing!
Even more fun is how easy this pattern is. It may look complex, but I promise it’s one of the easiest quilts you’ll ever make.

The generous lap size also means you’ll have a snuggle worthy quilt perfect for all that hibernating this winter! As you can see, Pips was ALL over this one when she arrived back from UK.
Oh, and did I mention the pattern for the pillow is also in the mag?! Yup, it’s like a 2-for-1 deal!
The Double Windmill quilt pattern is now available in the shop. You can also find the pattern in Love Patchwork and Quilting Magazine Issue 67. Or sign up for the *annual digital edition here.
